Many buyers still ask for a tax-clearance certificate, while the current SARS process uses Tax Compliance Status and a verification PIN. The taxpayer’s status can change after the PIN is issued.
What the PIN does
The PIN allows an authorised third party to verify the taxpayer’s current Tax Compliance Status for the approved purpose.
Why a status may be non-compliant
- Outstanding returns
- Outstanding debt without an accepted arrangement
- Registration-detail problems
- Registered-representative issues
- Processing or verification matters requiring evidence
Check before a deadline
Review the SARS profile before submitting a tender, supplier application or finance request so there is time to address an unexpected result.
Requirements and processing times depend on complete documents, system availability and the relevant authority. This general information is not an official verification of your company’s status.
